Homemade Cornbread Recipe

Homemade cornbread and chili makes a great food storage meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups yellow cornmeal
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 eggs, beaten
(use powdered if you don’t have fresh)
  • 1 2/3 cups milk
(use powdered if you don’t have fresh)
  • ¼ cups butter, melted

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Stir in cornmeal until well blended.

Add honey, eggs, and milk. Stir to a smooth batter.

Stir in melted butter just until blended. Do not over stir.

Pour into well-buttered 9” x 5” x 3” loaf pan.

Bake at 375°F for 40 – 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, loosen around the edges and turn out to cool.
