Christmas is almost here. I'm grateful for this season that focuses on the Christ Child. Service and the Spirit of Christ bring great joy this time of year. Jesus Christ lives and has the power and ability to perform miracles in our life if we will only ask of Him and follow his counsel.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is giving away a sin to Jesus each year. I pick a challenge that's giving me the most grief and decide on a way to improve. One time I gave away the same sin for five years in a row until I finally mastered it. No worries, slow and steady wins the race.

Now, what's new at Provident Living Today? Our major accomplishment is figuring out how to create a YouTube video to put on the website. We've created four videos so far. There's a video on the Gravity Water Filter, Polar Pure Iodine Crystals, and the Portable Bidet - That's a fancy way of saying emergency toilet paper kit. There is also a short video on raking leaves and preparing your garden soil.

Now that Dad's garden is put to bed, he has a little more time to write pages for our gardening section. This month we've added pages on types of soil, garden watering systems, and building a drip system. We're hoping to have most of the gardening pages ready for you by spring.

For those of you interested in starting your vegetables indoors, we'll be planting onions in January. In February, we'll plant our tomato and green pepper seeds. We should have these garden pages ready to go for you this month.

I'm really excited about our newest feature we've added to the website. You can now write your own page and post it on Provident Living Today. Here's how it works. At the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar there is a section "Your Comments Count". Here you will find places where you can post your stories and comments. It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. 1-Write your story, 2-Add a picture of your family or something to do with your story (picture optional), and 3-Submit it.

We would love to hear how the pandemic kit items are working for you and your family. Are you staying healthy? Please, take a moment to tell us your story. As I've taught water classes, there are a few of you who have told me your story about living without running water for more than a few days. We would love for you to share your "Water Tale" on the website. It's one thing to think about life without running water and another thing to actually live without it. Share your living without water experience!

There is also a Provident Living Ideas page for you to share any of your emergency preparedness or provident living ideas. I'll put your story where it fits best on the website. We're interested in hearing what's working for you.

Water doesn't have to boil to be safe to drink. Learn about water pasteurization on our solar water purification page.
